Many linguistic and cultural areas are underrepresented in the current German-language theater landscape, and texts or content from these languages rarely appear on stage. In the next three issues of DIALOGRAUM, translators from Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese will report on the local theater scene, present current trends, authors, and content, and offer the opportunity to ask and answer questions.

Cao Kefei is theatre director, autor and translator, living in Berlin and China. She has founded LadyBird Theatre Studio with poet Zhou Zan in Beijing in 2008, created crossover works in China and German-speaking Theatres and public spaces. She was guest professor at the Department of Applied Theatre Studies at the University of Giessen in 2013, published the German book "Contemporary Theatre in China" with Sabine Heymann and Christoph Lepschy by Alexander Verlag Berlin in 2017. In the last years she has written and created several documentary theatre productions and short films which were presented in the Centre for Contemporary Art Berlin in 2021.
