On account of the Corona pandemic, rehearsals and performances are currently only possible online. Video conferencing solutions cannot currently offer the quality necessary for music and the performing arts. This is why Digital Stage – digital-stage.org, a network of various individuals and institutions, was initiated. Digital Stage is developing a modular videoconferencing service, optimised for the needs of music, dance, theatre and performative arts, which makes it possible to rehearse on the internet from multiple dispersed locations with readily available household technologies and to perform together live in front of an audience on a digital stage.
More than 30 institutions are working together for Digital Stage. As the leading partner, the german Centre of ITI has supported the first two phases of development in 2020.
