The Prague Quadrennial is the most important platform for scenography worldwide. Founded in 1967, it presents scenography as a field of collaboration between various disciplines every four years.

Since 2007, the german Centre of ITI has taken the lead in organising the German entry to the Prague Quadrennial and to this end cooperates with the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft, the Deutscher Bühnenverein, the Szenografie-Bund and the Goethe-Institut, individual artists, universities and other cultural institutions. The Federal Republic of Germany was one of the initiators of the Prague Quadrennial in 1967, which by now presents entries from over 70 countries. Numerous prizes have so far been awarded to the national contributions of both German states, including the main prize, the Golden Triga.
