The next event in the WERKRAUM series is devoted to current important festivals for contemporary German-language drama - the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the Mülheimer Theatertage.
In the first part, playwright and translator Ulrike Syha reports on this year's Heidelberger Stückemarkt (28.4.-7.5.2023), which she accompanies as a member of the prize jury of the authors* competition. She talks about the concept of the festival and introduces both the plays nominated for the competition and the prize winner:in 2023.
In the second part, theater critic Christine Wahl will be our guest. She is the spokesperson for the selection committee at the 48th Mülheim Theatre Days (13.5.-3.6.2023), during which the Dramatikpreis is awarded, a prize for contemporary German-language drama that has existed for over 40 years. Christine Wahl will report on the selection criteria, the discussion and selection process, and provide information on texts and authors.
Translators from German and interested theater professionals are invited to attend. The working language is German, the talks will be moderated by the translator Barbara Christ.
